One of Spoon River’s great strengths is its unique ability to be any size. You can build a smaller version of the show with as few as 8 actor/musicians inhabiting all the lives of this small town or you can make it as big as you’d like with up to 50 actors all taking on a single role. Even more if you just need graveyard inhabitants singing along to the big numbers. Great for community theatre productions.
BAND
There are required instruments and non-required instruments. The core of the Spoon River band is acoustic guitar, mandolin, violin, piano, upright bass. Non-required instruments add to the colour of the sound but are not necessary - trumpet(s), trombone, dobro, banjo.
You can choose to hire exclusively actor/musicians who can all act and play the require instruments or you can hire strictly actor/singers with a separate band like a pit orchestra.
